The Best Shoe Cleaner

In this section of the site we are going to try to discover the the best shoe cleaner out on the market. Many sneaker lovers in the world believe that it is not necessary to clean their sneakers with a shoe cleaner. While this statement can be true it is also based off of preference. Cleaning your sneakers with a cleaner has some big advantages over normal cleaning despite it being more expensive. The shoe cleaners can clean sneakers faster, cleaner, and safer in many instances.

In the sneaker market today there are tons and tons of sneaker cleaning products. You will find that all these products will claim to be the best shoe cleaner. This is very natural for a brand to claim their product to be the best. Knowing this Spotless Kicks has formulated a list and narrowed down the best sneakers cleaners to three different cleaner brands. These brands are Jason Markks, Resheovn8r, and Crep Protect. Each one of these brands are very well-known and could all easily be crowned the best shoe cleaner. In this comparison we will do a brief overview of each product and their differences in price value, and effectiveness. Alright let’s jump right into it!

Jason Markk’s Cleaner

Jason Markks is the original sneaker cleaner. This product has been around since 2007 and is the oldest cleaner brand on this list. Jason Marks is often mentioned as “the one that started it all”. Some people already believe this is the best shoe cleaner. Jason Markks is also the first cleaning brand to have a store where you can drop off your sneakers for cleaning.

Price

Jason Markk’s basic essential kit is $16. It includes a 4 oz. solution cleaner and an all-purpose bristle brush. They also have an essentials bundle which includes everything in their basic kit plus a microfiber towel and a soft bristle brush which cost $36. They also have other products that can be purchased separately.

Effectiveness

After using this cleaner on a pair of muddy white sneakers we found that it cleaned the sneaker really well. We added the solution to water in a bowl to create our cleaning mix. The smell of the solution was very pleasant. While cleaning the sneaker we also had to add the solution to the cleaning brush multiple times. After repeating the cleaning process three times it seemed to get most of the mud and stains out of the sneakers. We used the essential kit for this example. The all-purpose brush was a little rough and harder to scrub on the upper materials. After letting the dry they looked much cleaner than they did before.

Reshoevn8r’s Cleaner

Reshoevn8r has been around since 2010. It is a very well-known brand that has proven its worth in hundreds of YouTube videos. This sneaker cleaner has brought back sneakers from “the dead” and sponsors a lot of sneaker entrepreneurs. Reshoevn8r is also the only brand that offers a washing machine cleaning kit for washing your sneakers.

Price

Reshoevn8r’s shoe cleaning kit is $25 and it includes 3 different types of brushes,and  a 4 oz. solution cleaner. Each brush is used for different materials. You have your soft bristle brush, you have your hard bristle brush, and your all-purpose bristle brush. There is also many other bundles such as the laundry system bundle for $30 and various other bundles. There laundry bundle comes with two shoe trees, a laundry sneaker bag, an all-purpose brush, and a 4 oz. solution bottle. The Reshoevn8r laundry detergent is sold separately for $17.

Effectiveness

We used this cleaner on a pair of white sneakers that were stained with red colored juice all over them. It did a good job at removing dirt and the lighter stains. Having all three types of brushes made the brushing process very smooth and easy. We only had to put some squirts of solution inside a bowl with water to get the cleaner created. Also we did not have to squirt any extra solution on our brush once the water based cleaner was made. We repeated the cleaning process two times and most of the sneaker looked very clean. There was still a few very deep stains in the material. We used the laundry system kit for the finishing touches and the sneakers came out looking brand new.

Crep Protect’s Cleaner

Crep Protect has was created in 2015. It is probably the most commercial brand out of every sneaker cleaner. The brand won the Drapers Footwear Award in 2016. This brand is also very accessible because you can find it in many retailers like champs and footlocker. Crep has also done many brand collaborations like with the brand New Era for example.

Price

Crep Protect’s “cure” cleaning kit is around $20 US. This kit includes a soft bristle brush, a micro fiber towel, a travel sized case, and a 7 oz. bottle of solution. They also have other products that they sell separately.

Effectiveness

We used Crep Protect on a pair of all white sneakers with ketchup stains all over the sneakers. The Crep did a very good job after just one wash for removing the stains from the sneakers. Even so, a second wash was required because little sections of the sneakers still had stains. We also had to apply the cleaning solution on the brush and in the bowl of water. This helped us get a good and deep clean on and into the sneakers.

The Crep cleaning brush was very soft and easy to clean with but when used with force some of the bristles came out it. After letting the sneakers completely dry they looked very good. However there were very deep stains in the sneakers but they were hard to see.

The Best Shoe Cleaner Verdict

“With great power comes great responsibility” we all know this saying from character Uncle Ben in Spiderman. We have tried all three sneaker cleaners and it’s time to discuss our likes and dislikes of each. Then we will come to a final verdict on which brand is the best shoe cleaner.

Value

When it comes to Jason Markks we found it to be a little pricey for the value. For $16 you only get a brush and a bottle of solution. To get the best kit the price was $36 which is the most expensive out of all the cleaners. The all-purpose brush wasn’t bad but wasn’t the best but for $16 that’s what came in the kit.

Spotless Kicks felt that Reshoevn8r’s $25 kit was a fair price. Being able to get three different types of brushes and a cleaning solution was worth the money. Overall having to buy Reshoevn8r’s Laundry system bundle was pricey but it worked as promised.

Finally when discussing Crep we believe it to be the best “bang for your buck”. For around $20 US we were able to get a towel, travel case, solution, and a soft brush all in one. Also the ounces of the solution were more than Jason Markks and Reshoevn8r.

Product Usage

When using the Jason Markks cleaner it had a very good smell to it that we liked. The cleaner worked well but it was tedious how we had to keep applying the solution to the brush. The brush they provided wasn’t the best to us but with effort it did its job very well. We managed to get the muddy sneakers looking very white again but it took about three washes. With this cleaner the more work you put in the better the results.

Reshoevn8r’s cleaner worked smoothly. We liked how after applying the solution to the bowl of water it was enough to clean the sneakers. We did not have to keep dripping the solution on the brush like the other two sneaker products. Cleaning the sneakers was the easiest because Reshoevn8r’s kit came with a brush for every situation. After two washes the juice stained sneakers was nearly spotless. There were some deep stains in-between some of the threads that were still visible. We then applied Reshoevn8r’s laundry method and the sneakers stains all went away. We needed more tools but the results were amazing and the best out of the other cleaner brands.

Crep Protect’s cleaner did the best cleaning if we was comparing just a onetime wash. Crep’s Solution had to be applied multiple time on the brush just like Jason Markk’s cleaner. The brush that came in their kit felt like the best brush. With that being said it also started having some bristles fall out of it while we was washing the sneakers. This did not happen with the other cleaner brands. So after cleaning the sneakers two times they looked very good. There were a few little marks left but they were hard to notice immediately.

Overall

The best shoe cleaner title was a hard title to give for sure. Overall after looking at the pros and cons of each cleaner we give the title to Reshoevn8r. To Spotless Kicks Reshoev8r is the best shoe cleaner. Each sneaker cleaner worked very well and we recommend you try all of them. We choose Reshoevn8r because even though it costed us the most overall it did its job. After the pre clean and the laundry system method was applied the sneakers looked brand new. With the Jason Markks it did the job but too much effort was needed. With the Crep Protect there were still stains on the sneaker. Also Reshoevn8r’s brushes did the best job when used all together.

Spotless Kicks recommends you use Crep Protect if you’re traveling because their travel size kit is very convenient. If you don’t mind buying the $36 bundle of Jason Markks then use their cleaner. If you need a heavy duty cleaning for deep stains use Reshoevn8r’s cleaner with the laundry treatment method.
